About Löffler
The success story
Hardly anyone knows that the Löffler success story began in 1947 with the manufacture of fine tights and women's knitwear. At that time, Elfriede Löffler founded a company in the small Austrian town of Ried, which was not yet aware of its later role in the field of functional clothing. In 1973, Löffler was taken over by ski manufacturer Fischer and the products were steered in a sportier direction. The reorientation starts with a first winter and tennis collection, followed by a cross-country skiing line. In the 1980s, Löffler becomes the official outfitter of the ÖSV team (Austrian Ski Federation). The partnership begins with the provision of functional underwear and ski sweaters. Thanks to good feedback from the ski racers, Löffler also succeeds in winning the DSV (German Ski Association) and the Swiss Ski Alpine Team as cooperation partners. In the course of time, Löffler enters cycling and running, so that today clothing from the Austrian brand is represented in almost all sports. Due to constant development and new innovations, Löffler enjoys great popularity throughout all sports. With their latest development hotBOND® reflective, Löffler wins the Innovation Award of Austria in 2018. Today, Löffler stands for sustainable and fair sportswear that combines the components of quality, responsibility and innovation.
Sustainability target
Löffler has set itself a goal: regional sustainability. The brand achieves this through four approaches:
- Regional economic partners: production in Austria, only for sewing capacities are purchased in Bulgaria
- Environmentally friendly producer: careful use of natural resources and effects on the environment are reduced to a minimum
- Better products: entire value chain in Ried - fabric production, product development, design, knitting, cutting, making-up, sewing, final inspection
- Attractive employer: fair wages in all countries
Environmental goals are anchored in the corporate philosophy. In this way, Löffler makes its contribution to our planet and the buyer also makes a significant contribution. Löffler is committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which include fighting poverty, creating resilient infrastructure and achieving gender equality in all countries. In 2020, Löffler received the prestigious Austrian Sustainability Reporting Award (ASRA) in the "First Report" category for its first published sustainability report.
FAQ
What makes Löffler clothing stand out?
The three corporate pillars of responsibility, quality and innovation meet the demands of wearers. Due to fair production in Austria, Löffler meets the highest social standards. Short transport routes additionally reduce the impact on the environment. Only high-quality materials such as merino wool, GORE-TEX® and PrimaLoft® are used in the products. By developing and manufacturing its own materials locally, Löffler can serve its quality standards. The unique Löffler quality is indispensable in the sports industry. Permanently developing the functions of the products is virtually part of the Löffler DNA. Innovative products and unusual knitting technologies are the order of the day - always with the goal in mind to offer the wearer the best possible product on the market and to equip him optimally for sweaty activities.
Who are the top athletes that Löffler works with?
For decades, Löffler has been the official partner of the ÖSV (Austrian Ski Association) and DSV (German Ski Association). More specifically, Löffler cooperates with the Austria Ski Team, the DSV Nordic Team and in the field of cycling with Team Felbermayr Simplon Wels. The athletes rely on the high-quality clothing, which has already proven several times that it can withstand competition conditions. Through close cooperation with the pros, Löffler manages to constantly improve the products and equip them optimally for next victories. The functional clothing from Löffler is equally intended for top athletes and amateur athletes who like to face personal challenges and achieve new goals.
What is hotBOND® reflective technology?
With the marketing strategy "reflective instead of risky", you can already guess in which area this innovation is used. The products are the ideal companions for sports activities at night. In the hotBOND® reflective development, highly elastic materials are combined by means of ultrasonic welding. Thanks to this special processing technique, the dots reflect when illuminated and you are clearly spotted by oncoming vehicles. Additional plus: there are no seams that press or chafe. This technology is used in bike pants and jerseys as well as in running tights. So you are safe on the road even during a short evening round in traffic.
Where can Löffler clothing be repaired?
During sporting use, despite the greatest care, the functional clothing can be damaged - whether by a fall or sharp-edged rocks. To ensure that the enjoyment of the product does not diminish, Löffler offers a professional repair service. Here, too, the corporate philosophy is reflected. It is more sustainable and responsible to renew damaged clothing than to throw it away directly.
